Partnerships

Penasi Group Home staff have developed many community partnerships with resources to assist the residents.

These include:

  • Assessment and counselling services including grief counselling, anger management and behavioural issues
  • Psycho-educational assessments
  • Private one to one tutoring to support academic progress
  • FAS assessment (if required)
  • CAMHU – for emergency mental health support for youth
  • Child Psychiatry and Child Psychologist
  • Medical care (Nor West Community Health Centre, community Walk-in Clinics)
  • Optometry and dental services as per Ministry requirements

Residents attend community schools supported by Penasi staff who liaison with each resident’s classroom teacher and Principal.  The length of each resident’s school day is determined by the community school and  the resident’s ability to manage successfully in the classroom setting.  Penasi’s Child and Youth Worker’s will provide additional support to promote the resident’s academic goals and progress.

Penasi staff work closely with the referring agency’s Child Care Worker to develop an appropriate Plan of Care to direct the resident’s programming and ensure the youth receives support in all areas of their care. Plans of Care are reviewed monthly during the first six months of care and every three months thereafter.
